You say, "I am allowed to do anything"--but not everything is good for you. And even though "I am allowed to do anything," I must not become a slave to anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 (New Living Translation)
Too many Christians are giving in to sins of passion,
Secretly indulging in drunkenness, pornography, fornication, adultery, etc.
At the beginning of their race, it was not so.
They caved in at an unguarded moment.
That one time they lied to themselves and said:
'This isn't going to hurt anybody....'
Because they thought they were not going deep,
That it would be just that once....
But weeks, months and years later
They're still entangled very much in that secret sin and its yokefellow....
Even now, Child of God
Like the prodigal son in Jesus' parable,
Say to yourself: 'This is not right!'
Declare: 'I cannot and I will not do this!'
And dare to (physically) step away from it.
Allow your brain do its work of analytical judgment.
Your brain is a blessing from heaven, use it.
Do not follow your heart if it leads you down hell's broad way.
Think about where that road leads.
Ask yourself 'Where will this end?'
It may be pleasurable at the moment,
But momentary pleasures should be juxtaposed with their inevitable consequences.
Think. Act. Pray.
Tell yourself the truth
And renew your mind by the Word.
You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21)
No weapon (of sin) formed against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17)
As He is, so are you in this world. (1 John 4:17)
Amen.
